As the Danes would say, Tyskland!

The last stop of spring break was the capital of Germany (Tyskland in Danish), Berlin. Berlin, and Germany, have a pretty well known history (Nazi’s, Hitler, WWII), and the recovery period from this has really made Berlin a unique city.

Eating Our Way Through Belgium

For people that love relatively (aka VERY) unhealthy food, this blog post is for you. The next stop during spring break was the “quaint” (SAT word) little town of Bruges. Before we continue, just for your own personal knowledge, I was informed that Bruges is pronounced (Broooooj, now you know!).

Praha(ha)

The first stop of spring break was the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague. Because of expensive plane tickets, my friend and I took a 12 hour bus ride to Prague. It began in Copenhagen, where we drove to a port where we took a ferry across to Germany. Once in Germany we drove to Berlin, had a short break, drove to Dresden, then went all the way to Prague. We arrived around midday, and napped before the others came, before exploring Prague.

CPR and peripheral IV access lessons at CEKU

Well that is quite a bit of acronyms for one title, but it was better than typing out “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and peripheral intravenous access lessons at the Center for Klinisk Uddanelse” Anyway, on Monday, instead of going to class at Roskilde Hospital, we went to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, which is one of the largest hospitals in Denmark, and also (fun fact incoming!!) where the Danish Royal family goes.

So Why Is Denmark the “Happiest Place in the World”?

To be honest I still am not sure. If you look at Denmark (no offense) it isn’t the best at any category, and in fact, it’s not the close to the top in most of them either. They are not near the top in terms of life expectancy, they are one of the highest taxed societies, they don’t have the biggest, grandest, most beautiful art or architecture, they are not the richest nation, and I can personally assure you that Denmark does not have the best weather. So why is Denmark the “Happiest Place in the World?”

Field Study: Lynettens and Middelgrunden Wind Park

Today was windy, so it is only fitting that my Renewable Energy Systems course had a field study to get a better understanding of wind energy in Denmark.
